If you don’t want to be parched like your land, keep your water up.  The human body is composed of 75 percent water and 25 percent solid matter.  To provide nourishment, eliminate waste and conduct all the trillions of activities in the body, we need water.

EDITION 11:  Original gangsta - not so origina, not so gansta, but a haunting lifestyle

As much as we all enjoy a big Hollywood blockbuster there are those who argue the proliferation of American culture can have a negative impact on Australian kids.  Take movies featuring drugs guns and gang culture for example, opponents say this influences younger members of our community into thinking this is how young adults should live their lives.  Aboriginal film director Warwick Thornton feels disturbed by this issue and says this leads to young people being confused about their identity.

Cape York Health Promotions 2008 - Latest News

EDITION 10:  Healing Wings, Royal Flying Doctor Service

The Cairns base of the Royal Flying Doctor Service regularly visits Cape York Indigenous communities that are situated amongst some of the most unconquered tropical terrains in Australia.  Much of Cape York itself is zoned, listed and legislated as national park or areas of heritage classification where development is void.  To say some of the communities in Cape York are regional is an understatement.

Stayin' Strong - Past issues

EDITION 4:  Gettin’ down with the next Generation of the Wilcannia Mob!

Down River was the hit hip-hop single released by Wilcannia Mob - five young Indigenous kids from the north-west New South Wales town of Wilcannia.  Recently, Stayin’ Strong spoke with Brendan Adams, co-ordinator of Wilcannia’s Wings Drop-In Centre.  Brendan is a proud Aboriginal man and community worker who moved to Wicannia in the year 2000 and helped facilitate music and theatrical workshops in the community – a project that discovered the talent of the kids and the forming of the Wilcannia Mob.

Everyone has problems in life and most times talking about them can often help.  CYMHS is pronounced `KIMS' and stands for Child and Youth Mental Health Service.  They help young people sort through their problems including coping with stress, depression, anxiety, mood problems, relationship and family issues.
